Finding Your Soulmate Workout + TurboFire PiYo Hybrid Schedule | Katie Proctor

I’ve written about finding movement that fuels you before, but recently I heard a term that really stuck with me: soulmate workout.

Now this term isn’t new nor is it something I came up with. Credit to my girl Chalene Johnson for that one, who I had the absolute pleasure of meeting in person this past weekend at the annual Coach Summit in Nashville, TN. Feeding off her energy not only during our meet and greet but also during our LIVE Turbo Kick workout really got my wheels turning.

I’ve always loved dance — in fact I danced competitively when I was in high school — and adding great music is just the icing on the cake. For me, it’s a way to move where I feel alive and energized. It’s the complete opposite of how I feel when I’m pushing my comfort zone, like in Handstand School, training for my sprint triathlon {training tips for beginners like me to come!}, skiing and testing the waters of rock climbing. In those situations, I feel more on edge, more uncomfortable and more distressed. Now, the payoff is HUGE when we stretch our comfort zones and seeking adventure is a big part of overcoming fear.

But there’s something so freeing about being IN THE ZONE rather than out of the zone, if you know what I mean.

It’s no secret that I’ve been in a rut and despite having written about it multiple times I just haven’t been able to shake it. And I decided it was time to do something drastic — find a new love.

Creating my own schedule gives me ownership over my routine so that I am more excited and allows me to mix in my favorite workouts without getting bored.

I designed an 8-week blend of TurboFire {dance cardio/kickboxing} and PiYo {pilates toning/yoga} that requires zero equipment and can be done from anywhere. It’s perfect for those of us who have crazy summer travel schedules but still want to keep up with our fitness! I also included a rest day or bonus workout on Saturdays so you can have the flexibility of doing other activities you love. For me, it’s often going on a walk/jog in our neighborhood, a hike or bike ride. Anything to get outside, really!

Total soulmate status.
